Velma Henley peacefully departed this life on Sunday, August 2, 2020 for a better one in heaven with all those who journeyed before her. She will be joining her late husband of 57 years, Griffin E. Henley, and a host of friends and family awaiting her arrival.
Velma Henley (Mamaw / Aunt Velma) was an excellent wife and mother adored by all children. She enjoyed loving on and rocking all babies and spending time sharing wisdom and experiences with a host of family and friends. She loved nothing more than gathering loved ones together with food – especially homemade desserts.
She was a PCSSD school bus driver for 27 years and a valued employee of Walmart pharmacy for 15+ years. Through these jobs and others, she touched the lives of both young and old.
She devoted her life to building a home for her family. Velma is survived by four daughters: Eugena Henley Wolfe (Ben), Cheryl Henley Burnside, Kathryn Henley Bates (Tony) and Janet Henley Carter. Velma also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation at 1pm at Pinecrest Funeral Home on Highway 5 in Alexander, AR. James Sorrells II, beloved great nephew of Velma, will lead a brief funeral service immediately following the visitation at 2pm.
