Alice T. O'Rourke

Born Alice Teresa Murphy on August 9, 1921 in Philadelphia, PA, she died on February 13, 2012.

Alice enlisted in the U.S. Marines in 1943, where she adopted the nickname Pat. She met the love of her life, Robert O'Rourke and they were married in 1949.

Pat then began her second career as a wife & mother, moving several times with her husband and children, settling in Alexandria, VA in 1963.

She later went to work for the U.S. Army, and then with a military contractor, as a civilian and worked full-time until she was 70 years old.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Martin James & Emily Murphy, siblings Philomena, Catherine, Marie, Eugene, Daniel, Martin James and 2 sisters named Margaret, who died in infancy.

She is survived by her husband, Robert, brother Gerald Murphy of FL, daughter Patricia O'Rourke of WY, daughter Kathleen Zimbro of CA, son Kevin O'Rourke of VA, 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Pat was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother and her family meant the world to her.

She was an avid supporter of countless charities for many years, especially St. Jude's Children's Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude's in her name.
