Anna Marie Hart Payne
December 5, 1928 – January 2, 2020

Born in Washington DC on December 5, 1928. Anna had a Federal career spanning 20 years; she retired in 1988 from the United States Army Materiel Command in Alexandria, VA. She retired to Colonial Beach, VA where she was very active in the community and a member of Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church. Anna passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 2, 2020 at her daughters’ home where she had lived since 2018. Anna will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Anna is survived by her sister, Margaret Hart Peck; her children, George R. Payne (Joyce), Frances Sullivan(Norm), Wendy Meakin Payne (Donald-D), and Mary Norton (Bill); 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. George W. Hart, and her son Donald R. Payne.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 6, 2020 from 12-1pm at the Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington St. Alexandra, VA, where a funeral service will be held at 1pm. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, www2.heart.org.
