Arthur Henderson

On Saturday, November 19, 2011, the beloved father of Sharon Henderson, Walter Henderson, Virginia Reed and Roberta Henderson. Also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother, Alvin Henderson and sister, Ann Parker. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Charlotte Buckley Henderson.

Art served in the Army for four years during World War II. Following the War, Art graduated from Georgia Tech with a Master of Mechanical Engineering degree. He began work at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics in 1949 and continued with the agency when it became the National Aeronautics and Space Administration in 1958. He retired from NASA in 1989. He loved his family, his church, reading and singing.

The family will receive friends at Demaine Funeral Home, 320 South Washington Street, Alexandria, Virginia from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 25. A funeral service will be held at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, 2001 Sherwood Hall Lane, Alexandria, Virginia, at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2011 followed by interment at the Old Presbyterian Meeting House Cemetery in Alexandria, VA.
