C. David Noziglia

Born on March 4, 1952, in Denver, Colorado, to the late Bob and Mae (Hoster) Noziglia, David grew up in an Air Force family with a boundless curiosity about the world. He pursued his education in Virginia, earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia and later a master’s degree from George Washington University.

David’s intellect and passion for global cultures led him to a distinguished career as a Foreign Service Officer. His diplomatic assignments took him and his family all over the globe, with postings in Saudi Arabia, Nepal, Indonesia, New Zealand, and India. It was during his time in Madras (now Chennai), India, that he met his wife, Sherry. The two were married there on February 2, 1980, beginning a shared journey of adventure that spanned over 46 years.

After retiring from the Foreign Service, David brought his deep historical knowledge and love of storytelling to George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate, where he served as a historic interpreter for over 15 years. An avid, lifelong reader and learner, David possessed a brilliant mind and eclectic interests, spanning science, history, linguistics, and science fiction. Reflecting his deep passion for world cultures, he mastered seven languages over the course of his lifetime. He was famously fond of regaling anyone who would listen with vibrant tales from his global travels—stories told with a warmth and humor that will be deeply missed.

More than any professional achievement, David lived for and deeply loved his family. He was endlessly proud of his two daughters, Rhea and Manica Noziglia, and was a profoundly doting grandfather. He was never without a photo of his cherished grandsons, Jasper and Everett, to share.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry; his daughters, Rhea and Manica; his son-in-law, Britton Wood; his grandsons, Jasper and Everett; his brother Bob and sister-in-law Suzie; and a global network of friends and colleagues whose lives he touched.

A memorial gathering celebrating David's extraordinary life will be held at the Noziglia residence on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 1:00 PM.
