Miss Cecilia A. Kowalik

KOWALIK, CECILIA A. (age 93) of Alexandria, VA. Lovingly known as Cele, died suddenly on April 13, 2015, daughter of the late, Mary (Duszenko) Kowalik Islam and Stephen Kowalik and step daughter of the late Charles Islam. Sister of the late Harriet C. Kavcak (Stephen). She is survived by nieces, Leona H. Diamond (William), Christine Kavcak and the late Regina A. Skowronski. Also survived by three grand nieces, Beth Hatfield (Michael), Laura Simpson (Sheldon), Patricia Hennessy (Kevin), great grandnieces, Lindsey Hatfield and Anna Simpson and two great grandnephews, Stephen Simpson and Kyle Hatfield. She also leaves behind many dear friends, especially Doug Severson and Jane and Chester Merritt. Cecilia was a retired Budget Analyst for the US Coast Guard and a longtime resident of Hunting Point Apartments. Friends may call at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington St., Alexandria, VA on Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 6 to 8pm and brief time Monday from 8:30 to 9:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 20, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 310 S Royal St., Alexandria at 10:00am. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Alexandria, VA.
