

Claudia Delmira Bowen left us suddenly on September 26, 2016 with her son close by her side at Mt Vernon Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia. Claudia was born July 24th 1947 in Colon, Panama to Olga and Luther Davis. She graduated from Rainbow City High School in 1966 with honors. In 1970 she played basketball in the Pan American Games and won a bronze medal! In 1975 she met and married Army soldier Fernando Bowen. Together they had two beautiful children Karen and Fernando Jr. Claudia was always the vibrant life of every gathering! Her lovely spirit would quickly fill up a room the moment she entered. Her colorful fashion statements would undoubtedly match her vibrant energy! She loved sports with a passion, and when she wasn’t playing she was heavily routing for her favorite teams! She devoted so much of her time and energy to caring for others all around her. For 23 years she worked for The Mount Vernon Nursing Center and spent her most recent years working at The Fairfax Retirement Community where the residents all loved her dearly! Claudia last resided in Alexandria, Virginia and is survived by: her two children, Karen LaCour (Arnold) and Fernando Bowen Jr. (Angela): Four Brothers and Sisters: Bette Willis (Herbie), Shirley Davis, Fredo Davis (Gaybell), Edwardo Davis (Griselda); Seven grandchildren AJ LaCour, Destiny Howell, Andre LaCour, Divine Howell, Tia Bowen, Fernando Bowen III, Maria Bowen; and a host of nieces nephews, cousins and friends who love her dearly!
