Doris Rose Ferlmann

Doris is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Herbert Ferlmann. She is survived by her children, Stacy Bowdring and John Ferlmann. Doris was a loving grandmother to 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Born in Peoria, Illinois, Doris graduated from the Academy of Our Lady in 1948. Upon graduation, Doris worked as a secretary and typist. In 1955, Doris married Herbert Ferlmann, also of Peoria. Her husband’s Air Force career led them to Texas, Virginia, Kansas, and Paris, France before settling in Alexandria, where Doris worked as a registrar for St. Mary’s Academy.

Doris’ care and altruism was evidenced through her extensive volunteering: as a Gray Lady of the American Red Cross both in the US and France; a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, the Route One Community Kitchen, and Christ House; and as an aide to the Director of Religious Education at Fort Belvoir.

Doris’ life will be celebrated at a Memorial Mass on Monday, October 26 at 10:30 am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8710 Mount Vernon Hwy, Alexandria, VA.
