Doris Irene Gunderson

Doris Irene Gunderson, 89, passed away on June 20, 2013, at INOVA Mt. Vernon Hospital. She is survived by her children, Shelly Brown (Charles), Debbie Vosburg (Jim), Michael Gunderson, and Richard Gunderson (Nancy); her grandchildren, Adam Brown, Ashleigh and Amanda Gunderson, her great-grandchildren, Bryson, Lyla and Durham Brown; her sisters, Edna Fisk and Gloria Brewster, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, Brian S. Gunderson, USAF Retired, and her brothers, Roy and Alton Nanson. The daughter of Otto and Mae Nanson, she was born and raised in South Dakota. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also an active member (choir and altar guild) of Bethany Lutheran Church. A celebration of her life will take place at Bethany Lutheran Church on June 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive family and friends following the service in the fellowship hall. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
