Betty was born July 23, 1937 in Marshfield, WI, daughter of late Michael and Katherine (nee Hupfel) Schlecht and was fifth oldest of their six children. She graduated from University of Wisconsin in Madison WI and did her physical therapy internship at Vanderbilt University. Betty married the love of her life, Herbert C. Together they traveled the world, whether with Herb’s military assignments in various locations thru Germany and the United States, or traveling just for fun to over 120 different countries. Over the years Betty worked as a physical therapist, a realtor/broker/manager for Mt Vernon Realty (with many agents recognized as top salesmen), and a travel agent for Friendly Travel. She organized a number of wonderful trips for the West Point Class of 1958 and her family and friends. She was dedicated to the local Kiwanis International Club. Both Herb and Betty were active members of Epiphany Lutheran Church and served on the church council. In addition, she loved playing bridge, golfing, sailing, hiking, attending plays, and swimming. Family and friends were always very important to Betty, who was a devoted wife, loving mother and a very proud grandmother. Betty is survived by her husband, Herb, her children, Elizabeth (Daniel Rappolee) Puscheck, and Lisa Puscheck, her grandchildren, Eleanor, Thomas, and Benjamin Rappolee, and Isabel and Jackson Zamer, and her sisters, Francis (Dick) Novak and Joan Mrozinski and along with a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Rose Lietz, and her brothers, Alfred and Richard. Please join us in celebrating her life on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Epiphany Lutheran Church 5521 Old Mill Road, Alexandria, VA 22309. The service will begin at 1 pm with fellowship to follow.
