George Alexander Kanan, 66, of Pensacola FL, passed away peacefully in Alexandria, VA on February 22, 2012. He is survived by his devoted wife Diane and many special people in his life. Son of the late Paul and Alice Plante of Alexandria, VA, George was born in Cambridge, MA. He also lived in Panama, Germany and Alexandria, VA. He earned his engineering and management degrees at George Washington University and retired from the Federal Service as Program Manager for the Department of the Navy. He was an avid golfer and a competitive tennis and poker player.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at the Demaine Funeral Home, 520 South Washington Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 4:00 pm. Friends and family are invited for visitation from 2 pm until 4 pm. Interment in Pennsylvania will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
