Helen Morrell, 91, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength that touched all who knew her. She was the beloved wife of the late William Morrell, and a devoted mother to her five children—Kathleen, Michael, Timothy, Thomas, and Edward—who were the great pride of her life. Her love was shared as a grandmother to 12 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 10, each of whom knew her warmth, wit, and presence.
A woman of faith and community, Helen was a proud supporter of the Immaculate Conception High School Boosters Club. She also found joy on the golf course, where her competitive spirit and love of the game shone through.
Following the death of her husband, Helen embarked on a distinguished career in government service. She worked for several congressmen and ultimately retired after serving as the Scheduler for the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Helen embraced life’s simple pleasures. She loved playing bridge with friends, cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, and savoring oysters on Christmas Eve—a cherished tradition. At home, she was rarely without the comforting companionship of her beloved cat, Lady.
Helen Morrell will be remembered for her resilience, grace, and unwavering dedication to her family. Her life was one of service, love, and quiet joy, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
A memorial service is planned for the spring in Washington, PA, with details to follow. The family asks that in lieu of flowers or gifts you call your family members and tell them you love them.
