

James W. Boinest,LTC, U.S. Air Force (Retired) of Falcons Landing, Sterling, Va, died peacefully on August 7, 2014. Born 1932 in New Brunswick, NJ, to I. Hugh and Ann (Crosson) Boinest. He graduated from the Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, with a degree in electrical engineering. He then joined the Air Force and was a B-47 navigator. In the following years, he worked in A and E Consolidated Maintenance, was Commander of the 10th SMS, and had a final tour at the Pentagon working on the AWACS program. He met his wife, Audrey, an Air Force nurse, at Mather AFB California and they went on to have tours in Arkansas, Morocco, Spain, California, Thailand, Montana and the Pentagon, and together they raised 5 children. He retired in 1978 and then worked for several companies in the Washington, DC, area. He is survived by his wife, Audrey, 5 children, Barbara, Jim Jr., Eileen Cross (Mark), Patrick (Catherine) and Julie Kuehnle (Stevan), and 5 grandchildren. Jim will be remembered for his love of music and the Redskins. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wounded Warriors Project and the Citadel.
