James H. McCain, age 78, died Thursday, March 27, 2014 following a period of failing health. He was born in Montana, raised in Oregon, lived in Washington and California before moving to the east coast. He had an accomplished fifty-year professional career in Information Technology and International Sales and Marketing. He attended the University of Oregon, the University of Washington and Columbia Graduate School for International Management.
Following his retirement he counseled individuals planning to start small businesses through the SCORE program; and, devoted time to writing about his travel experiences that brought him to every continent in the world.
In addition to his wife of 34 years, Madeleine, he will be deeply missed by his two children Pamela Ann McCain of Plant City, Florida and Christopher Brian McCain and four grandchildren of Kent, Washington. His sister Margaret Divine and brother-in-law Earl Devine of Sierra Vista, Arizona survive him.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 310 S. Royal Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314 at 12:00 noon, Saturday, April 5, 2014. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church or Suburban Hospital’s Neurosciences Program, Bethesda, Maryland.
