Obituary of Jane Grey Gregory Hardman

IN THE CARE OF

Demaine Funeral Home

On Wednesday January 16, 2019 Jane Grey Gregory Hardman of Alexandria, VA, went to be with the Lord. Jane Grey Gregory was born August 27,1932 in Gregory, West Virginia, a daughter of the late James Vincent and Dora Brown Gregory. She was the eleventh child and predeceased by her ten siblings: John Gregory, Raymond Gregory, Walter Gregory, William Gregory, Erma Gregory Brohard, Beulah Gregory Winko, Paul Pierson Gregory, Oliver Curtis Gregory, Ione Ruth Gregory Ullrich, and Anna Lee Gregory Mayfield. She was married to the late George D. Hardman in 1950 for 32 years. For 67 years Jane was the beloved mother of Georgia Grey Hardman Coffey and for 45 years the beloved mother-in-law of John A. Coffey. Surviving sisters-in-law are Marjorie Hardman Burke and Rev. Edith Sharon Hardman West. She leaves behind her grandson, Brian M. Coffey, his wife Susan and their daughters, Ashleigh and Alexandra. In addition, Jane leaves behind several nieces and nephews most of whom would have called her, “Their favorite Aunt.” Until her retirement she enjoyed working for Delta Electronics as an electronics assembler and then in the front office helping out with administrative and customer relations duties. Her nickname was “Plant Manager” which was conferred to her because of the large, tenacious philodendron plant she was able to grow throughout their front offices. Jane will be remembered and missed by her many friends. There were many who were happy to treat her as a member of their own families and “adopting” her as their own Grandmother. She was an avid gardener and known on her street as “The Bean Lady.” Her quick wit, love of cooking and generosity ensured that none who visited left her home hungry. Memorial services will be held in Alexandria, Virginia on February 9, 2019 and in Burnsville, West Virginia on August 24, 2019. Interment will be in West Virginia. In Lieu of flowers Jane’s favorite charities were The Lupus Foundation www.lupus.org. The Fairfax County Humane Society www.hsfc.org. The Goodwin House Foundation (Goodwin House Hospice 703-824-1200, 4800 Fillmore Ave., Alexandria, VA 22311)
