Jim was born in Kansas City, MO on August 12th, 1942, the youngest son of Norman and Sophia (Boulus) Zammar. He graduated from Bishop Lillis Highschool and then went on to start working at Trans World Airlines (TWA) where he climbed the ranks and retired nearly five decades later where he served as the Secretary-Treasurer and Director of Revenue Accounting at the Airlines Clearing House in Washington DC. Jim was a parishioner at St. Mary’s where he served as an Usher every Sunday at the 10:00am mass. He was an avid golfer, and a life-long Kansas City Chiefs fan, but above all he loved his family, and cherished his children and was so proud of his grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Sophia Zammar, and his siblings, Norma (Zammar) Brothers, Norman Zammar, George Zammar, and Evans Zammar.
Jim is survived by his children, Matt Zammar (Tracy Hennrich) and Julianna (Zammar) Jones (Tyler Jones); his beloved grandchildren, Jackson and Evelyn Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. Those closest to Jim find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and in Heaven with God.
In honor of Jim’s memory, flowers may be sent to Demaine Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may also be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A funeral will be held at St. Mary’s Basilica in Old Town Alexandria at 10:30am on October 5th, 2026, followed by a burial at Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria, VA.
