

PRYCE JOAN M. PRYCE Joan M. Pryce passed away suddenly on August 25, 2014 at the age of 80, in Marcellus, New York. Born Joan Marie MacClurg in Connecticut, she attended high school in Wisconsin and earned a BA in Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she joined the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and was a member of the ski team. She met her husband William in San Francisco, and together they embarked on a life in the Foreign Service which took them to Mexico, the Soviet Union, Panama, Guatemala, Bolivia, and Honduras. In addition to work in retail and real estate, she managed significant programs in the Panama Canal Commission, Embassy support organizations, and the State Department's Family Liaison Office. A devoted daughter, she later cared for her own mother until her death at the age of 100. She was predeceased by her husband, Amb. William Pryce and brother, John MacClurg. She is succeeded by her children Kathy, Jeffrey and Scott, and her grandchildren Bobbie, Keith, Jack, Kate and Jaray Witherell and William, Ella, Pierce and Victor Pryce. Visiting hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 South Washington Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 5 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 228 South Pitt Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314.
