Joan White

Joan passed away in her Alexandria home where she had resided for over 57 years on 4 June 2018. She was born in LaPorte, Indiana to the late Melvin and Gertrude Stinchfield and grew up in Valparaiso, Indiana, graduating from Valparaiso High School in 1944. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, retired Air Force Colonel Allen S White, brother, Mike Stinchfield and sister Janet Fisher. She had been a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church since 1971 and participated in church, community and school activities. She was an avid bowler and tennis player and loved to read and play bridge. She is survived by her four children, son Terry and his wife Gail of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter Cathy W Trapnell of New Bern, North Carolina; son Mark and his wife Diane of Falmouth, Virginia; and son David of Los Angeles, CA. Five grandchildren, Llynn White Coyne and her husband Ken; Michael Magarelli and his wife Robin; Nicole White; Mathew Trapnell and his wife Shana and Alex Trapnell; and five great-grandchildren, Ash, Harrison, Preston, Alder and Reid. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
