Jim was born May 4, 1947 in Titusville, PA to John Henry Hubbard and Margaret Helfrich Hubbard. He attended schools in Titusville, graduating from Saint Joseph’s Academy in 1965. He attended The University of Pittsburgh and Gannon University in Erie, PA.
He enjoyed his first job delivering the Erie Times Evening Newspaper while in grade school with the occasional help of his sister. Then he pumped gas and cooked the hams sold at Ritt’s gas station on West Spring street where he got to meet most of the people of Titusville and refer to them as friends. He worked as store manager with Regal Shoes and other companies throughout the northeastern United States for many years. At the end of his working career he was employed as a bank account manager at Sun Trust Bank in Falls Church, VA.
He was devoted to his church, walking his dog, “Sammy”, as he navigated his power wheelchair touring the grounds of Montebello where he lived and socialized. He was especially thankful for the friendship from Edna, Eunice, Richard, Marco, Edwin and Oscar with whom he spent many happy years. He spent his summers at his beloved cottage on Oil Creek near Titusville sitting around the campfire with his dear friends Lisa, Joyce and Sarah; and neighbors Mary Parker and Bill Thompson of Titusville. He built a loving relationship with his Amish carpenters and their children.
He is preceeded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Christine Hubbard, who died shortly after birth.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Jane Garmong and her husband John (Jack) Garmong of New Mexico and nephews Thomas J. Garmong and John F. Garmong.
