We have known Jack since 2002 when we moved to Virginia. The few times that we were together with him were to celebrate life, culture, food and music with his lovely wife Edmea. We pray to God that his family may be comforted and receive His blessings.

I knew Jack from my friend Edmea, his wife. Throughout our 20+ years of friendship I was able to know a little more about Jack. Through his seriousness I saw kindness. Through his words I saw happiness as he enjoyed the fine art of living through traveling and meeting people.
My heart is heavy for the Mccarty family and I hope they all can find time for consolation and togetherness as they heal from this loss.
My prayers are with you.
God bless you all.

I am proud to say that CAPT Jack McCarty was my friend and mentor during my Coast Guard career, beginning in Boston , 1979. As a recent graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, I reported to the First Coast Guard District in Boston, MA, ready to apply my newly-learned theories in financial management to my tasks as Budget Officer. But Jack, as District Comptroller, was quick to school me in the realities of Coast Guard Financial Management of that time. Jack's demeanor at that time was always of a calm and collective man, never given to emotional outbreaks, but always assured of his opinions and ultimate decisions. He trusted me to provide detailed information, which at the time was a challenge, given that information technology today's standards very primitive. We developed a special bond, being raised in Catholic schools, having similar upbringings, but most notably having the same birthdays! Jack and I bonded as friends, and today I mourn his passing and celebrate the life he lead and the inspiration he gave to me and others.
