Joseph W. Williamson of Alexandria, Virginia died on February 12, 2012. He was 103 years old. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 26, 1909. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1930. Upon graduation he worked for the Koppers Company in Pittsburgh and then Brooklyn Union Gas Company in New York, until May 1942, when he received a commission in the US Navy Reserve. He retired from the Navy in 1962. He then worked for the Boeing Aircraft and the city of Seattle. He was married in January 1941 to Opal Boyd, who preceded him in death. He is survived his daughters, Jo Ann Williamson of Alexandria, VA and Janet Wallace (Byron) of Cleveland, Ohio and three grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer and Matthew. Services will be private.
