

A life-long resident of Washington, DC, died April 2, 2012 from a fall sustained during a skiing trip in Colorado. He was an active participant in various Veterans Games, Capital Adaptive Rowing, Ski for Light, Prevention for Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington, kayaking, skydiving, paddling and skiing. Founder of the Julius Fleischman Foundation, he has enriched the lives of many in the metropolitan community through his generous donations and support. A WWII veteran, he earned two bronze and one silver stars for his valor during combat. As a real estate entrepreneur he developed Fleischman Village, several shopping centers and the Branch Avenue Motor Lodge in Clinton, Maryland. He will be mourned by family and friends throughout the area. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 South Washington Street, Alexandria, VA 22134. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made in support of the National Veterans Special Events at the Washington DC VA Medical Center. Donations will support our Nation's Veterans attending National Veterans Special Events. Please make checks payable to DC VAMC, GPF #1182.
