

LAVELY LAWRENCE WILLIAM LAVELY Captain, USN (Ret.) (Age 75) A resident of McLean, VA passed away on Monday, December 5, 2011. Captain Lavely was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from St. Xavier High School. He was a graduate of the Naval Academy, class of 1960, and proudly served our country in Vietnam. In 1970, Captain Lavely earned a Master's Degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Kansas and later attended the National War College. He retired from the Navy in 1989 and entered the private sector for which he worked for the next 20 years. In his later years, he shared his experience and time with such organizations as SCORE and the Lombardi Comprehensive Center at Georgetown University. He was most recently a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Vienna, VA. He is survived by his loving six children, Susan, Stefanie, Deborah, Sandra, Eric and Jonathan; his adoring seven grandchildren, his sister, Mary Letty and brother, Dan. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Jerry. A beloved and charismatic gentleman who will be missed by many and all. Burial will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
