A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on September 3 at St. Louis Roman Catholic Church in Alexandria, VA. She will be interred at Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria.
Lorraine was born March 18, 1924 in Schuyler, NE to Anna and Emil Slezak. She served as a U.S. Navy WAVE during World War II before settling in California where she met and married the late Aubrey Ellis. They were married for 58 years.
Her daughter, Lisa VonColln predeceased her. She is survived by her son, David Ellis and his wife, Jill; her three grandchildren and their spouses, Anna & Zeke White, Andrew & Laura Ellis, and James & Blair Ellis; as well as her three great-grandchildren, Enzo, Vincent and Evan.
Lorraine was an adventurer who took special delight in the natural world. Whether it was exploring tide pools in Maine with her grandchildren, camping with Aubrey in Yosemite National Park, or tending to the flowers in her own back yard, she always found something to make her say, “Wow!”
We hope all of you who knew Lorraine will honor her memory by spending time outside, finding something that delights you, and sharing it with the loved ones in your own life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the National Park Foundation or the Poor Clares Monastery in Alexandria.
