Marilyn Lewis Jenkins of Alexandria, Virginia passed away on June 18, 2020 at the Fairfax Inova Hospital following a short illness. She was wife of the late Rear Admiral John S. Jenkins, USN (Ret.), former Judge Advocate General of the United States Navy and later Senior Associate Dean of the George Washington University Law School, and daughter of the late George Wesley and Carrie Shook Lewis of Harding, Pennsylvania. Following her graduation from West Pittston High School, she attended and received her A.A. degree from Centenary College, Hackettstown, New Jersey in 1951. Becoming a Navy wife in 1958, she worked in the insurance industry while her husband attended the George Washington University Law School, later starting a family in 1965. She actively volunteered in her community at St. Stephens Episcopal School for Boys, Christ Church in Alexandria, Virginia and with the Navy JAG Wives Club. In retirement, she resided at Greenspring Senior Living Community, enjoying social activities with her family and her “squad” of dear friends who greatly enriched her life. She is survived by her only son, John S. Jenkins Jr., who is the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of TE Connectivity, living in Haverford, Pennsylvania, with his wife Karen. She adored her two beautiful and loving granddaughters Kelly and Katie. Funeral services and burial will take place at the Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday, September 30th at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the Jenkins family requests that memorial gifts be directed to the Marilyn Lewis Jenkins Scholarship, care of Centenary University, 400 Jefferson Street, Hackettstown, New Jersey 07840 for the education of veteran students.
