Michael Galloway Wight, the youngest son of Nelson DeVille Wight and Louise Galloway Wight, passed away on February 25, 2022, after a determined two-year battle with cancer. Michael was 68 years old and surrounded by family in his final days and moments.
Born in Philadelphia, Michael graduated from New Hope-Solebury High School in 1971. In 1973, Michael graduated with a Liberal Arts degree from Bucks County Community College. Michael continued his education at Millersville State College and received a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Industrial Arts and minoring in Graphic Arts and Photography. His education would continue throughout his lifetime in which he passed along this knowledge to all others.
Michael's career started in 1976 with Time-Life Books in Alexandria, Virginia, as an Assistant Director of Quality Control. He joined Lanman-Progressive in 1983 as a Sales Associate. Over the next decade, Michael demonstrated a consistent ability to develop profitable business for the division and earned the coveted Chairman's Award. By 1995 Michael was Vice President of Sales and a pivotal contributor to Lanman's rise from a small, regional business to a $40 million company with a national customer base.
In 2000, Michael fulfilled a personal aspiration when he launched his own business. As CEO, Digilink would become a leading commercial printer in the DC Metro area. In 2018, Michael successfully sold Digilink, which allowed him to pursue new passions that took him back to his roots in industrial arts. Devlaur Properties was a custom home remodeling business that remodeled homes in the community where he spent his formative years. His final project was completed in 2020 and now homes his youngest daughter, son-in-law, and grandson.
Michael's most extraordinary success was his devotion to his family with the support of his wife, Denise Anne Durso. Michael and Denise met in 1979, and they were married in 1981 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria, VA. They had a loyal and loving marriage for forty-one memorable years. Michael will be eternally missed and remembered by his wife Denise, his daughters Lauren and Nicole, son-in-law Rich and grandson Henry, his sister Merry and husband Tom, brother Nelson and wife Mimi, and his many nieces and nephews.
