

Morton Boshears of Alexandria, VA passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the age of 93. A native of Jacksboro, TN, Morton was born on February 22, 1932. He graduated from Jacksboro High in 1950 where he was involved in Future Farmers of America and voted Senior Class President and ‘Most likely to Succeed’. He graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1954 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting.
Morton served in the United States Navy for three years, worked for the Washington Post as an accountant, and retired from the Federal Government in 1988 where he worked for the Departments of Commerce and Transportation also as an accountant.
Morton enjoyed watching Jeopardy, working Sudoku and crossword puzzles; listening to bluegrass, gospel, and country music; watching sports, especially the Washington Redskins and University of Tennessee football and basketball games; and spending time with family and friends.
Morton is survived by his loving wife of over 69 years Olamae Edmonds Boshears of Alexandria, VA (originally Mars Hill, NC), his son Neal (Donna) Boshears of Georgetown, SC; his daughter Amanda Mae Boshears of Alexandria, VA, and his grandson Matthew Morton Boshears of Alexandria, VA.
Morton is preceded in death by his parents Brown and Bertha Boshears; his son Kevin Boshears; his sisters Florien Elizabeth Boshears, Opal Phillips, Lillie Marie Kidwell, Ruth Boshears, Mary Hannah Riggs; and his brothers Harold Boshears, Wheeler Boshears, Hugh Boshears, Wade Boshears, Eldon Boshears, and Cal Boshears.
Family will receive friends at Mt. Paran Baptist Church on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 11am - 12pm; the funeral service will be at 12pm with Rev. Larry Edmonds officiating.
Interment will follow at Mt. Paran Cemetery.
