Nell was a wonderful woman.  She treated all of Carol's godchildren like they were her own grandchildren.  I know she is happy to be back with Carol watching over all of us.

Nell was like a sister to my mom, and at times, another mother to me.  I will cherish all of the memories and remember Nell's great sense of humor.  Even though Nell faced many hurdles in her life, she provided encouragement and support to many.  What a strong, resilient, charming lady we have lost.

My sympathy to Joe and others. The Rothman family knew Nell for about half a century. She excelled as a neighbor, cook (part of neighborliness in my mother's circles) and parent, and I have no doubt that she likewise succeeded as a caring teacher. RIP, Nell. I hope you have fun updating Carol on Wellington-area gossip.

You were a wonderful role model for me and also for my children.  Thank you for so many fabulous memories -- especially those fantastic afternoons playing Bridge -- you were a great partner.

After the loss of our Godmama, we could still feel her love through Nell......she will be missed-

I was a child in Virginia and knew Nell and her family. I had the pleasure of visiting with her a few years ago. I will deeply cherish the memory of this gallant and lovely woman. My condolences to you all.

What a gracious and lovely Southern lady who became my own mother figure for many, many years. I'll treasure forever your love and friendship and the memories we shared of Carol, my sister-friend. Although I'll miss you, I'm so grateful you're at peace.

I have known Nell, personally, since I was four years old and in recent years we talked via phone almost every day.  She was a beautiful vivacious girl, young woman and a graceful lovely christ-loving woman.  Both of us are from Wise County, Va. and graduated from HS in Appalachia, Va.  She has always been as close as a relative and I loved her and will always hold her memory and love close.  Joe, you were always "your mother's son" and she absolutely loved you beyond words. Hold her memory close and cherish it always.  Love and Blessings to both you Joe and Sarah.
