

She was born in Flasher, ND on March 24, 1940, to Paul and Gladys Baarstad. She had lived in many places throughout her lifetime. She had most recently called Alexandria, VA home for almost 40 years. She retired from government service after 27 years and before that was a teacher for more than 18 years. She loved to travel, collect Betty Boop memorabilia, and watch football, especially the Green Bay Packers. She was a devoted member of Washington Farms United Methodist Church and was deeply devoted and loyal to her friends and family.
She is survived by her sons John Jr. and wife Karen D. Jenkins of Hiltons, VA; Jeff and wife Karen Jenkins of Triangle, VA, sister-in-law Janice Baarstad of Fargo, ND as well as several grandkids, nieces, nephews, and cousins and “adopted daughter” Brenda Stanley.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John and brother Marvin Baarstad.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Thursday December 29. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 with a graveside service at 12:30
