

Of Alexandria passed away on November 28, 2015. Bob was born August 19, 1937, the son of Col. Robert Tuthill Gants and Frances Langmade Gants. Bob graduated from the U. S. Military Academy at West Point in ‘61 and received a JD Degree from the Washington College of Law at American University in ‘67. For many years he worked in Government Relations. In 1995 he became a partner in the law firm of Redmon, Peyton and Braswell in Alexandria, where he practiced until he passed. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Norma, two sons, Robert Daniel Gants (Paola), Monte Arthur Gants (Brenda), a daughter, Erica Gants Pons (Thierry), a step brother, John Claybrook (Joan), three grandchildren, Timothy, Robert and Owen, and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Margaret Frances Webb. Bob was an avid sailor, reader of history and could often be found with a martini in hand and a laughter induced tear in his eye. Visitation will be held at Demaine’s Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington St., Alex. on Sunday, December 6 from 3-5pm and a funeral mass will be held on Monday, December 7 at 10 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 310 S. Royal St., Alex.
