Sherry and I were friends at UVA. When I met her, she was half- heartedly attempting to "wreck" her orange/yellow, maybe Vega or something like it wagon, so she could have a new car. She hated the car and waxed poetically about its demise. All I could think of was getting in trouble for doing that and getting hurt. I was pretty young when I met Sherry and despite my anxiety over the whole thing, I thought it was insane and so cool all at the same time! Pretty much like everything I remember about Sherry.
I remember her introducing me to a few of the "finer" things - her favorite at the time - Tang and grain alcohol. She also taught me it is ok to climb in the window of someone you know, if they have orange juice in their fridge and you need orange juice (or Tang).
I remember thinking she was such a pretty girl, who never knew how pretty she really was - ever. She was a brilliant girl, who never saw herself as brilliant as she was and she was a deeply, caring, emotional and kind girl who almost never showed her sadness, hurt or tears to others.
It is at times like this that I am reminded, I should have looked up that old friend......I should have looked up Sherry.
Very few people in my life have ever made me laugh as hard, as much and I so wish, I could have thanked her for
making me feel included and for her kindness; for all those laughs and for teaching me it's sometimes just fine to be insane and so cool - all at the same time!
God Speed, Sherry.
Your friend,
Christiann

She was the weirdest person I know... She was not good at showing her feelings, not good at staying on track, not good at taking care of herself and not very good with kids. She was also very picky with her food. lol

She was GREAT at showing her love in her own strange way; she was GREAT at making me think outside the box; she was GREAT at making sure I am walking toward a path that will bring me great success; she was GREAT at making my son laugh because of her corny jokes; she was GREAT at making sure I'm eating right when I was pregnant and that I had what I needed. she was GREAT at taking her time to explain things to me. She had the BEST sense of humor of anyone I know.

To me she was SMART, FUNNY and LOVING. She will always be my best mentor and a dear friend. This weirdo will always have a special place in my heart, I love you Sherry!
