

Theresa P. Labas, 91, of Fairfax, Va. died from natural causes on Saturday, 12 November 2022. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Labas, and is survived by her children, Stephen and Catherine (Salerno) Labas, of Alexandria, Va., Frank and Julie (Labas) Maldonado, of Libertyville, IL, Raymond and Stacy (Keating) Labas of Chantilly, VA., Christopher Labas of Washington, DC, John and Linda (Willis) Labas of Woodbridge, VA., Paul and Hannah (Brown) Labas of Kernersville, NC. She is also survived by her sister, Sr. Rita Meyer, of St. Joseph Hill Convent, Staten Island, NY, her 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and friends.
Mrs. Labas was born in Perth Amboy, NJ in 1931. She graduated from St. Peter’s School of Nursing and immediately began her nursing career at the New York Hospital. She then joined the US Naval Nurse Corps, commissioned as Lieutenant (junior grade) and served until her marriage in 1960.
Mrs. Labas, as beloved matriarch, lovingly raised a family of 6 children, generously instilling in each of them her sense of kindness, compassion, and determination.
Visitation is on Monday, 28 November, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington St, Alexandria, and a Mass of Christian Burial on 29 November at 10:30 a.m. at The Basilica of St. Mary, 310 S. Royal St., Alexandria. Interment will take place at Quantico National Cemetery following the Mass at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations kindly be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
