I was a colleague of Bob's for many years but meeting Trudy cast everything I thought I knew about Bob in a new light. Their's was and is a great love and an enduring romance. Trudy's light and kindness, her art and erudition and her Southern charm was the key to the remarkable life they built together. I am deeply saddened by this loss to our world

It was with great sorrow that I read of Trudy's passing. I got to know her when we worked for Time-Life Books, and she was one of my favorite people. She was unfailingly kind and charming—a true Southern gentlewoman. I send my deepest condolences to her family.

Time Life Books was a fabulous place to work, filled with talented, interesting people, especially Trudy, whom I had the pleasure of working with on several series. Mary and I also shared a magical week with Trudy and her family in Villa d'Este, Italy and took a boat trip up Lake Comp together. She was a kind, caring person.

Donia remembers working with Trudy on the Enchanted Worlds series at Time-Life Books:

Trudy was a lively presence in an atmosphere filled with creepy mythological subjects such as witches, trolls, and vampires. While the staff was working on the Giants book, Trudy passed out a typewritten recipe titled "One Giant Recipe for Muffins with Ravens," made with Raisin Bran cereal.

Donia still keeps that recipe from 1985 as a reminder of camaraderie and humor in the workplace.
