

Was born October 11, 1992, in Huntington, England; he died on April 18, 2012, in New Haven, CT. Zach was a freshman at Yale, studying engineering and had attended TJHSST. Zach's death is a shock to everyone who knew this dynamic, generous, free-spirited person.
Zach accepted people as they were and his charisma, passion for life, and friendliness allowed him to connect with all people. He played the guitar and banjo and had encyclopedic knowledge of music. He was a fantastic dancer. Zach loved to learn and had a vast body of knowledge. His pleasure reading included the Patriot Act and Tax Code. He loved computer science, physics, math, Russian language/history, and literature. At TJ, he was freshman class president and ran XC and track for 4 years. Zach loved America, and he shared a love of NASCAR with his dad. In his 9 months at Yale, he made 100s of friends, won two cooking competitions, mentored a local boy, coached Math Counts, attended friends' musical and theatrical performances, played intramurals, and was on a team doing research for NASA, all while taking rigorous classes.
Zach was known for his dapper, colorful wardrobe. He loved going shirtless, and he wore a neon-orange jacket that, with his long curly blonde hair, became his trademark. Zach had all the promise of the world in his hands. His death is a devastating loss to those who knew and loved him. This remarkable person touched thousands of people in his short time on Earth, and he will be deeply missed.
He leaves behind adoring parents Charlie and Wendi; brother Tom; maternal grandparents Sharon and Glenn; paternal grandmother Hester; aunts Vickie and Suzy; uncles Larry and Bud; and cousins Nicole, Marina, and Katy. Public viewing will be at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 Washington Street, Alexandria, VA, on April 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. and on April 28 from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m. A Remembrance Ceremony will occur at the main pavilion, Fort Hunt Park, Alexandria, Virginia, at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 29. All are welcome to attend.
