She was born July 17, 1937 to Eugene and Flora Dell (Adams) Stout of Olney, Illinois. She graduated East Richland High School in 1955, earned an associate’s degree in nursing from Wabash Valley College in 1979, and a BA of Nursing from Lindenwood College in 1985 at St. Charles, Missouri.
Jeanette was an active member of the Wabash Presbyterian Church at Orio. She served three terms on its Session, taught a Sunday School class over 20 years, sang in the choir, and was one of the ladies that hand quilted quilts to earn money for missions.
Jeanette worked 20 years as a nurse, volunteered for Hospice of S.E. Illinois for 15 years, and was also a member of the Homespun Quilt Club.
She is survived by daughters Beverly (Russ) Taylor of Larkspur, Colorado, Dee Medler of Evansville, Indiana, son Bill (Becky) Saltsgaver of St. Francisville, Illinois, and also her pet dog, Missy. She is survived by three sisters: Virginia (Earl) Stoltz, St. Francisville, Illinois, Floita Witte of Mineral Wells, Texas, and Genie (Kirk) Fifer of Olney, Illinois. Surviving grandchildren include Randy (Stephie) Medler, Allan (Amanda) Medler, Cori Medler, Adam Medler, Tesha Weiss, and Kolesha Riggs; nine great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Vaida, Sam, Zeth, Rowyn, Grace, Emma, Michael, and William; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was an infant brother Victor Eugene Stout, husband Charles Corrie, daughter Linda Riggs, and granddaughter Amy Adams.
Jeanette enjoyed her work for the Lord, her dogs, singing, quilting, traveling, reading, and time spent with family.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Wabash Presbyterian Church at Orio with burial to follow at Orio Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Mission Committee at the Wabash Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Southeastern Illinois, and envelopes will be provided at the service.
