Amanda Cranias

Amanda Cranias passed away on February 19, 2022 at the age of 88. She was born in Detriot, Michigan. She was the daughter of John and Domna Vakendis, who were Greek immigrants that came to this country in the early 1900s.

Amanda grew up in the suburbs of Detroit with her sister, Della. She attended Detroit High School and after graduation worked as a secretary for the Burroughs Corporation. After a few short years, she met and fell in love with her husband Chris. They were married in 1953 and together, they raised a family of 6. As a family, they started several businesses in Detroit before relocating to Orlando, Florida in 1979. Their entrepreneurial spirit and commitment of their children, lead to the development of several restaurants. “The Original Christos” remains in downtown Sanford, Florida and continues to be operated by the family.

Amanda had deep religious roots in the Greek Orthodox faith and was an active member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Maitland, Florida. She was involved in many Greek philanthropic organizations such as The Daughters of Penelope and Philoptochos.

Amanda was a selfless, giving, loving, daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was the “Heart and Soul” of the Cranias family. She is survived by her children, John, Chris, Terry, Callie, Van and Ted – 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 24 at 12 pm. Services will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Greater Orlando, located at 1217 Trinity Woods Lane, Maitland FL. Services will also be streamed live at https://www.htgocorlando.org/.

Interment to follow at All Faiths Memorial Park located at 1390 Park Drive Casselberry, FL
