Bennie Merritt

Bennie Merritt, age 86, of Altamonte Springs, Florida passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022. Bennie was born October 11, 1935 in Lumberton, NC to parents Bennie Merritt and Arekus Bass Merritt. Bennie graduated from Evergreen High School in 1954. After, he served in the US Airforce from 1954-1958 and was a Korean War Veteran. He retired from Martin Marietta after 37 1/2 years. Bennie and his wife , Phoebe were married for 47 years. They married on June 26, 1975. He enjoyed being a Deacon at Lennon's Crossroad Baptist Church.

Bennie is predeceased by his Father, Bennie Merritt, Mother, Arekus Bass Merritt, and Step Mother Betty Jernigan Merritt.

He is survived by his Wife, Phoebe Merritt. Son Larry (Christine) Graham of Ohio, Daughters Judy May of St. Petersburg, FL and Frances (Joe) Gore of Palm Coast, FL. Granddaughters, Hailey Gentry (Brad) of Deltona, FL, Phoebe Gore (Bryson) of Tampa, FL and Grandson, Alex Brown of St. Petersburg, FL. Great Grandsons, Brenden and Eli Gentry of Deltona, FL.

A visitation for Bennie will be held Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 994 E ALTAMONTE DR, ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL 32701. A funeral service will occur Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 994 E ALTAMONTE DR, ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL 32701. A committal service will occur Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Highland Memory Garden, 3329 E Semoran Blvd, Apopka, FL 32703.
