Winter Springs – Brenda Kreysig, a longtime resident of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, died Monday, June 22, 2020, at Palmetto Landing - Eagle Senior Living. She passed away peacefully with her husband at her side.
Born July 1, 1936, in Liverpool, England, Brenda was raised in Northampton, England. She graduated from Southlands College of London University. She went on to a career teaching elementary school in Northampton. After several years of teaching in Northhampton, she traveled to Boston, Massachusetts, as part of Fulbright’s first teaching abroad program. She then spent two years in Singapore, teaching elementary education at the United States Army base.
Brenda was married on Feb. 5, 1967, to Richard Baker Wheeler Kreysig. The couple began their life together in Connecticut. They traveled and lived in many places – Michigan, Venezuela, New Hampshire, the Cayman Islands – and settled to raise a family in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Brenda was owner and manager of Coronado Travel in New Smyrna Beach. She served as chapter president of the American Business Women’s Association. She was awarded "Woman Of The Year" in the 1980s. Eventually, she combined her experience of two careers and instructed flight attendants in airline service and reservation systems before retiring.
Brenda was a founding member of The British Club of New Smyrna Beach. She had a passion for travel, knitting, and her British heritage. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.
Brenda is preceded in death by her father, William Whiting, her mother, Lily Oliver Whiting, and her brother, Brian Whiting. She is survived by her husband Richard Kreysig; two children, Lisa Kreysig Cannata (Christopher Cannata) of Orlando, and Scott Kreysig of Duarte, California; and two granddaughters, Devyn Cannata and Raegan Cannata.
