Bronius "Broni" Nakutis
January 23, 1921 – March 28, 2018
Bronius Nakutis was born in Baisogala, Lithuania on January 23, 1921 and passed away in Orlando on March 28, 2018 at the age of 97. He left Lithuania during WWII while he attended college in Kaunas and moved to Emmendingen, Germany a small town in Black Forrest region of southern Germany where he met his wife Brunhilde. They were married in 1947. Their son Algis was born in 1948, and in 1951 they immigrated to the US on a US Navy transport ship filled with other displaced persons from Europe (people without a country) and were sponsored by a cousin who lived in North Adams, MA.
In 1955 their daughter Rosemarie was born in North Adams, MA. Bronius worked as a mechanical engineer for Sprague Electric Co. a large specialty capacitor manufacturer in North Adams, MA. He worked there for 20 years and transferred to their Longwood, FL operation in 1971. He loved to play golf and Florida was the perfect place. He tried to retire from the company three times, but they kept calling him back. He worked at the same company for 57 years as a mechanical engineer and was happy doing it! He could repair anything, and he would make the necessary part if it could not be found. Besides finding joy in repairing or making things Bronius’ other hobbies were golf and painting. Oil painting was his medium. He had an artist’s eye.
He is survived by his son Algis and daughter-in-law Varso who live in Orlando, FL, grandson Aleksandras who resides in Alexandria, VA and daughter Rosemarie and son-in-law James Presley who also live in Orlando, FL. Also survived by step children Michelle Herrmann and Jonathon Presley. Our Dad was a quiet, kind, and diplomatic family man. His candle will always be lit in our hearts.
