Caterina "Lina" Nicotra

Caterina “Lina” Nicotra May 17, 2015 Caterina “Lina” Nicotra, 87 of Lake Mary, Florida, passed away May 17 at the Hospice of the Comforter in Orlando, Florida. Born in Passopisciaro, Sicily, Lina came to live in Syracuse, New York in 1954 and married her husband Giuseppe “Joe” Nicotra and raised their children. She worked as a seamstress at Learbury Clothing in Syracuse with many family members and good friends. She and Joe lived in Syracuse, until 1976 when they moved to Vero Beach Florida. Lina moved to Lake Mary, Florida in 2003. Lina was predeceased by her husband Joe of 46 years, two sisters, Maria (Sicily) and Serafina (Australia), and brothers Carmen, Rosario and Ignazio. She is survived by her daughter Grace (Joe) Gorman of Lake Mary, son Vincent (Maryann) Nicotra of Syracuse, grandchildren Dana, Kim, David, Erinn, and Michael, great grandchildren Bailey, Griffin, Stella and Jonah, her godson Salvatore FarFaglia (Sicily) and many nieces and nephews Lina enjoyed sewing, knitting clothes for her great grandchildren, and attending the Community Center Meals on Wheels Senior program in Lake Mary. She enjoyed conversing with people and taking care of her cat, Cutie. Calling hours are 6-8 pm, Friday, May 22 at the Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, 994 E. Altamonte Drive, Altamonte Springs, Florida 32701. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am, May 23 at the funeral home and at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Ft. Pierce, Florida on Saturday, May 23 at 2:30 pm.
