Curtis Compton Williams

Curtis Compton Williams, passed away at the age of 78 on Thursday, September 16, 2021, in Orlando, Florida. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 8, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church, Hartsville, SC with the Rev. Ashley Cheek officiating. Following the memorial service there will be a private committal service at Magnolia Cemetery.
Born on June 25, 1943, in Hartsville, SC, he was the son of the late Mary Elizabeth Compton and Paul Fulton Williams. He attended Hartsville City Schools and graduated from Erskine College in 1966 with a degree in History and Religious Studies.
Curtis loved Orlando, and he made it his home for more than 50 years. He spent most of his career traveling with automative parts and engine sales. After retirement, he became a school bus driver for Orange County (FL) Public Schools. He loved interacting with the students and developed friendships that lasted long after the students graduated. He loved to dance, tinker with his A-model and spend time with friends.
Curtis was preceded in passing by Catherine Denise Neal Williams, his wife of almost 20 years, and is survived by his daughter Amy Williams (Tim) Puthoff; grandchildren Isabel Kathryn Puthoff and Abigail May Puthoff, Birmingham, AL; sisters Paula Williams Davis and Elizabeth Williams Hodge, Hartsville, SC; and Nieces Leigh Davis Hyett and Allison Hodge, both of Hartsville, SC, and Beth Hodge (Lee) Jacobs, Mount Pleasant, SC.
