Master Sergeant Demetrius Osmond Tucker, 54, of Orlando, Florida, passed on January 12, 2022. Demetrius was born on May 22, 1967 and lived most of his childhood in the state of Virginia until moving to Maryland with family at the age of 16. After graduating from Laurel High School, Demetrius joined the United States Army Reserve and went on to attend Bowie State University, where he earned his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice.
Demetrius began his career in law enforcement in Maryland, after graduating from Prince George's Municipal Police Academy in 1996, Session #12, 2nd Squad. He worked as a police officer in Maryland until his relocation to Florida, where he began his career with the Florida Highway Patrol 109th Recruit Training Class, Teams D & K. Demetrius was employed with the Florida Highway Patrol for over 17 years and was also Part of the Quick Reaction Force Team (QRFT) until his untimely departure from this life.
Demetrius began his military career January 2, 2001 as a United States Army Reservist and continued to serve until his departure. He served multiple tours of duty with the Army, earning awards and promotions. At his untimely departure from this world, Demetrius would hold the rank of Master Sergeant Posthumous, with the 143d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) Orlando, FL.
In addition to being hard working and dedicated to service, Demetrius was a kind and loving partner to Carolina, father to his children Bryonna, and Demetrius Jr., and brother to his siblings. "BB" or "B", as he was affectionally called by his siblings and family growing up; for the tight curls in his hair (when he had hair), loved his family, his job, his friends and lived his life to reflect just this. This was shown through the memories his daughter has of him being at every important milestone of her life, from graduation to marriage. The only thing that would stop him from missing a milestone (in person) is COVID; as he wasn't able to be present for the birth of his first grandchild. However, if you know Demetrious you know that surely did not stop him from showing love via Facetime.
His love for Bo, as he affectionally called his son even into adulthood, could be seen early in his life from playing football with him like Bo Jackson, to giving him a dream toy he remembers till this day. That Power Ranger set with the hologram head that glowed on the wall was everything to Bo. He was only 5 but still holds found memories and laughs about it till this day. From riding in that white jeep with the plastic windows zipped down and the wind blowing in their face, to conversations about what kind of father-son business they could start; to the weekends of endless cartoon watching and the abundance of Cinnamon Toast Crunch (oh how he loved that cereal), Demetrius built endless memories with his children that will be cherished.
Demetrius didn't stop with loving his biological children but also extended that love to his stepchildren; Steven and Jason (Gloria), Mateo and Michael (Carolina), Katedra and El'Vonee (Shahadah); whom all have found memories of him.
Aside from being survived by his wife Gloria Tucker (separated), he leaves to cherish his memory Carolina Tucker whom was by his side at his departure, his two children, Demetrius Osmond Tucker Jr. and Bryonna Mathews (Morgan); Grandson, Taj Nasir Mathews; Demetrius was preceded in death by both Paternal (Tuckers) and Maternal (Parhams) Grandparents, his Mom Miriam Mattie Parham, and Sister Deanna Tucker; and is also survived by his father, Linwood Tucker (Mildred); Siblings, Linwood G. Tucker (Kirin), Eddie Tucker (Tiwana), Linda “Latifah” Muhammad (Hassan), Phil “Umar” Tucker (Rolanda), Michael “Jahaad” Tucker (Alysha), Angele Tucker; Ex-Wife, Wendy "Shahadah" Tucker; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles
