

Ed Knight, Jr., 93, of Altamonte Springs, Florida, passed away on August 16, 2015. He was born to the late Isaac Edward Sr. and Lucille Knight on March 20, 1922 in Sale City, GA. Ed was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and a great and loyal friend. He served in the United States Air Force and retired as Major after over 20 years of service. He later became the Director of Records and Registration for the University of Central Florida, and actually registered the first UCF (FTU at the time) student to attend the school. Ed was the original advisor for the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at UCF. He was a member of the Rotary Club of South Seminole County for over 47 years, and was honored with the Paul Harris award twice within the organization. Aside from his professional and fraternal life, Ed was a Georgia Bulldogs fan through and through. He played center for the Bulldogs basketball team back in 1947, and his pride for his team was always obvious. Ed truly had a lasting impact on the lives of many, and he will never be forgotten, but will be deeply missed. His truly is a life worth remembering. Ed was preceded in his passing by his wife of 64 years, Jenny Knight; as well as his sisters, Mary Francis and Charlie. He is survived by his children Deborah Knight of Altamonte Springs, FL, Ed Knight III of Atlanta, GA, and Brigitt Berry (Kip) of Gainesville, FL; 2 grandchildren; as well as many close friends who will cherish his memory. A Gathering of family and friends will be held at 1:30pm on August 22, 2015 at Baldwin Fairchild West Altamonte, 90 Weathersfiled Avenue, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. A Celebration of Ed’s Life will follow at 2pm. Burial will follow Celebration at 4pm at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 2300 Temple Drive, Winter Park, FL 32789. Military Honors will be rendered at the graveside, and the family wishes to invite all who would like to attend to join them.
