

Edward William Yankowich, of Longwood, FL, loving husband, father, and grandfather; talented architect, and world traveler, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at the age of 73, surrounded by his wife and children, after a long battle with MSA. Ed was born on June 21, 1949 to John and Pauline Yankowich, in Port Chester, NY. Ed played football at Greenwich High School, in Greenwich, CT and in college, at Western Colorado University in Gunnison, CO, where he earned a double major in Fine Arts and Industrial Arts with a minor in Business. After graduation he returned to Connecticut to work in the family construction business. During this time he designed and built his own 6,000 sf home in Greenwich, CT which he used in his portfolio to enter architecture school. Ed graduated with a Master of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech and has been an avid Hokie fan ever since. As an architect, Ed specialized in themed entertainment architecture and thoroughly enjoyed his work, which included Hard Rock Café and Hard Rock Live Orlando, the Avatar venue at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Plaza del Lago, a 48,000 square foot private residence in Windermere, FL. He loved traveling all over the world with family and friends, trekking to far off locales such as South Asia, Egypt, Europe, South Africa, and Australia. Ed’s hobbies included woodworking, home construction, watching college football with his family, and soaking up the sun in New Smyrna Beach, FL. He was pre-deceased by his parents, John and Pauline Yankowich, and brother, John Yankowich, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Ashley and husband J.A. Lopez and their children, Ethan, Timothy, and Madison; son, Dane Yankowich; and siblings, Diane Woolery, George Yankowich (Cynthia), and Paul Yankowich (Denae).
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 2:00pm at Summit Church – Lake Mary Campus, 100 Technology Park, Lake Mary, FL 32746. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to MSA Coalition (www.multiplesystematrophy.org) or Parkinson Association of Central Florida (www.parkinsoncf.org), organizations that have special meaning to the family.
