Evelyn passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and quiet strength. Born in Elizabeth, West Virginia in 1932, she carried with her throughout her life the deep-rooted values of that small river community.
In the early to mid-1950s, she made her home in Parkersburg, West Virginia, where she would build the life, she cherished. It was there that she embraced her greatest joy — motherhood — welcoming her son in 1961. Those who knew her understood that her child was her pride, her purpose, and her heart.
Faith was the cornerstone of her life. Her church was not merely a place she attended — it was a community she belonged to, a source of comfort she returned to again and again, and a reflection of the woman she was. Her devotion was steady and sincere, a quiet testament to everything she believed in.
When she wasn’t tending to her garden — a labor of love that brought color and life to everything around her — she could be found socializing, filling any room she entered with warmth and easy conversation. She had a gift for people, and people knew it.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eula and Eber; her sister, Lena; and her brothers, Basil, Charles, Clyde, Don, and Roy. Now, a family reunited.
She is survived by her devoted son Barry, and his wife Rhonda and family, who carry forward her memory with love and gratitude for every year she gave them.
She was a woman of faith, of family, and of grace. She will be deeply missed.
