

Dr. Fannie Duncan Herring was born on December 13,1944, in Clinton, South Carolina; the 5th child of Essex and Pearl Duncan. On August 21, 2021, Fannie transitioned peacefully to eternal rest in Heaven with our Savior Jesus Christ.
Fannie graduated from Sterling High School in Greenville, SC. in 1962. She went on to attend Bethune Cookman College, in Daytona Beach, Fl. and in 1967, graduated Cum Laude with her degree in Elementary Education.
While attending Bethune Cookman College, she met and married Boyize Herring Jr. in 1966. They lived and raised a family in Port Salerno, Fl. Fannie always had a love for education and teaching children. She began her more than 30-year career as a dedicated and beloved 3rd grade teacher at J.D. Parker Elementary in Stuart Fl.
Always ambitious and never afraid of a challenge, Fannie decided that she wanted more in her career. She enrolled in the doctorate program at Nova University in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. A full-time loving mother and wife, education administrator during the day and a student at night and on weekends. Her fortitude paid off. She successfully completed the doctorate program at Nova University and became Dr. Fannie D. Herring, EdD.
Doctorate in hand, Fannie moved from the classroom to the administrative office at Port Salerno Elementary School, where she took on the position of Assistant Principal, a role in which she was greatly respected and loved. Fannie worked hard and learning that a new elementary school was going to be built, she seized the opportunity to become a principal. Dr. Fannie Duncan Herring was chosen to be the first principal of Pinewood Elementary School in Stuart, Fl., where she lovingly nurtured and supported staff and students.
Fannie loved God and loved serving Him more than anything. In 1966 she joined the parish of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stuart, Fl., where she taught Sunday School for 17 years and was a lecturer for 22 years.
Fannie never met a stranger; to her, you were automatically a friend. Fannie was loving, kind, sweet, compassionate, welcoming, and yes, she was always that happy!
Her memory will forever be cherished by her loving husband, Boyize Herring Jr., Orlando Fl., Children: Stepson, Stanley Jackson (Charlotte) Ft. Lauderdale, Fl., Nina Herring, Houston TX., Akalaia Rucker (Jamel) Oviedo, Fl., and Phillip Herring, Orlando, Fl. Brothers and Sisters: Albert Duncan (Mable), Greenville, SC., Jesse Duncan (Flora), Greenville, SC.; Mary Alice Mansel (Stanley) Fountain Inn, SC., and Sylvia Crawford (William) Fountain Inn, SC., and a host of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and many, many friends.
