Fern Augusta Frain Whitehead, 101, joined her beloved husband Clyde A. and daughter Mary Nancy Whitehead in heaven July 29, 2015. A lifelong resident of Longwood FL, Fern was honored earlier this year on her birthday by the city. An excellent homemaker, Fern warmed many a heart with her delicious home cooking and baking. Her compassion led her to share the good news of her Christian faith as a Sunday school teacher for many years, also to nourish the sick with a fresh pot of soup and cup custards. Fern loved gardening, and helped her family shell fresh picked peas, even in recent months. A devoted wife, mother, friend, and spunky pioneer, Fern leaves pleasant memories for her survivors: son Spencer (Janet), granddaughter Deborah (James), grandson David (Heather), and 6 great-grandchildren whom she adored. The gift of her life will be celebrated 2pm August 15, 2015, Upsala Presbyterian Church, 101 Upsala Road., Sanford, FL.
