

He graduated from first Loyola High School before graduating from Loyola University Maryland with a Bachelor’s degree, majoring in Physics and minoring in Math. Later, he received an MBA from Rollins College.
He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army where he studied missiles and rockets at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama, which was the start of his lifelong passion that he pursued throughout his life. After discharge from the army, he went to work with Martin Marietta, Co. which led to working with Oerlikon-Bührle in Switzerland and Messerschmitt in Germany.
He also had a passion for swimming, skiing on both snow and water, and was an avid photographer. He was captain of the swim team in both high school and college. He was also very well-traveled, having been to 5 of the 7 continents.
He is preceded in death by his son, Alan; his brother, Henry; his sister, Viv; and his parents, William and Elizabeth Hoehl Schildwachter.
He is survived by his wife, Carmela; his sons, Steven (Andrea), Eric (Linda), and Mark; his daughter, Mary; his daughter-in-law, Lori; his grandchildren, Shaun, Justin (Brooke), Krysta (Robert), Amber, John, Evie, Lesy (Tim), William, Robert, Thomas, and Alia; his great-grandchildren, Nicole, Paityn, Kennady, Mabel Mae, Adaline, Liam, Kymberlynn, Logan, and Grayson; and his many nephews and nieces.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Baldwin-Fairchild on June 6th. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:30 am, and the service will begin at 11:30 am.
