
She is survived by her two sons, Nicholas (Antonina) and David (Teal), nine grandchildren, as well as eleven great grandchildren, and several cousins. Geri is also mourned by her lifelong friend who was like a sister to her, Diana Everard. Geri was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David, to whom she was married for over 60 years.
Geri was born on September 12, 1939, in Newark, NJ, the only child to Joseph and Francis Schaefer. She was the apple of her father’s eye and her mother’s world, and she would cherish her family as her parents did her. After moving to Florida, and continuing to devote herself to raising her sons, she dedicated more than 20 years to the City of Longwood, FL , retiring as the City Clerk. Her dedication, knowledge, and kindness made her well-loved and respected throughout her career.
Geri will be remembered for her profound love and dedication to all generations of her family, her generosity toward friends, her natural talent of painting, her bonds with her neighborhood and beachside friends, and her mutual commitment and unwavering support of her husband, David. She had a gift for making holidays special and family dinners memorable occasions.
A graveside service will be held at Longwood Memorial Gardens, located at 929 N Grant St, Longwood, FL, 32750, US. The service is scheduled for December 7, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
