Glenda died peacefully on July 2, 2026, in her home. Born April 16, 1934, in Clinton, North Carolina, she moved to central Florida in 1949. Glenda was the 4th of 7 children of the late Elliott and Eva Bass. She graduated from Apopka High School and Florida Southern College, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in teaching. Glenda spent most of her teaching career at Robert E. Lee Jr. High, where she taught Civics and was active in the student council, Junior Achievement, and various other activities at Lee. She later went to Boone High School, where she taught American Government and economics. She truly loved teaching.
What Glenda loved the most was her family and friends, and it showed every day of her life. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, and mom. She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her family and friends. She enjoyed time at New Smyrna Beach and the mountains of North Carolina. She was an avid reader, a great cook, and when she wasn’t reading or cooking, she was sewing, a skill that was self-taught.
Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, “Jerry,” her brothers Elliott Jr., Bob, Harry, Graham, and Joe, and her sister Ann. She is survived by her children Patrick Donovan and Evemarie Becker (Garry) and many loving nieces and nephews.
We give thanks to God for the many years we’ve had with Glenda. She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
